Minjung Kim is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Public Administration and International Affairs at Syracuse University's Maxwell School. She is also an inaugural visiting research fellow at Gradel Institute of Charity at the University of Oxford. Prior to joining Syracuse University, she was an assistant professor at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and postdoctoral fellow in the Center for Social Impact Strategy at the University of Pennsylvania's School of Social Policy and Practice in 2021-22. She holds her Ph.D. in public administration from American University.
Her research interests are public and nonprofit management, organizational theory, organization-stakeholder interaction, charitable giving, social entrepreneurship, and social equity.
Her recent honors include an honorable mention for the 2024 Gabriel G. Rudney Memorial Award for Outstanding Dissertation in Nonprofit and Voluntary Action and the 2022 Emerging Scholar Award, both from the Association for Research on Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary Action. She is also a nonprofit early scholar fellow of 2024-25 sponsored by Nonprofit Management and Leadership journal. Her works have been published in a variety of peer-reviewed journals such as Journal of Public Administration and Research Theory, Public Management Review, Nonprofit and Voluntary Sector Quarterly, American Review of Public Administration, and Journal of Philanthropy and Marketing.
